Creative projects that live beyond the traditional canvas.

Paint It, Use It, Make It Yours

More Than a Painting to Hang

Crafted Essentials brings the guided PaintEasy experience to everyday objects, paper goods and seasonal decorations. Instead of completing only a traditional wall canvas, you can paint something to keep on your desk, carry with you, send to a friend or use as part of your home decor.

The collection includes different surfaces, sizes and product formats. Check each listing for its exact contents and assembly instructions before choosing.

Find the Right Kind of Project

Paintable Calendars

Our paint by numbers calendars combine monthly planning with a series of small artworks. Current themes include travel, cities, transportation, flowers, plants, cocktails, butterflies and Christmas scenes.

Calendar years, dimensions, page layouts and included components vary. Confirm the year before ordering, especially when purchasing one as a gift.

Canvas Tote Bags

Create something practical with our paint by numbers canvas tote bags. Designs include flowers, butterflies, fruit, drinks, beach scenes, plants and seasonal artwork.

Painting directly onto a bag feels different from working on a stretched canvas. Keep the fabric flat while painting and let the finished design dry completely before carrying or storing it.

Care and cleaning instructions can vary, so do not assume every painted bag is machine-washable unless the individual product states this.

Notebooks, Cards and Postcards

Browse paintable paper goods for notebooks, greeting cards and postcard sets that turn small painting projects into useful or shareable keepsakes.

A painted notebook can be used for journaling, planning or creative notes. Finished cards and postcards can be displayed, collected or given to someone as a personal message.

Set quantities, card sizes, envelopes and included painting supplies differ between products. Review the listing when a particular component is important to you.

Ornaments and Hanging Decorations

Our paint by numbers ornaments and charms offer smaller seasonal projects that can be completed individually or shared during a group painting session.

Current designs include Santa Claus, snowmen, reindeer, gingerbread figures, Christmas trees, bells, stockings and other holiday characters.

Check how many pieces are included and whether the selected set provides hanging cord, ribbons or other display components. Let every painted surface dry before turning, stacking or hanging the decorations.

Creative Wall Clocks

The paint by numbers clock collection combines a painted image with a working clock mechanism. Subjects include animals, butterflies, flowers, mountains and art-inspired landscapes.

Complete the numbered painting first and allow it to dry fully before installing the hands and movement. Clock dimensions, hardware and battery requirements should be confirmed on the individual product page.

Coasters and Door Decorations

Smaller functional projects are available in our paintable coaster collection, while seasonal entrance decor can be found in the Christmas door couplets collection.

Because these products use different materials and serve different purposes, follow the finishing, assembly and care information provided with the selected design.

Approachable Projects for Different Creative Moments

Most Crafted Essentials designs use clear outlines, recognizable subjects and separated color areas. This makes many of them approachable for beginners and suitable for shorter painting sessions.

However, the overall project length depends on more than the size of one piece. A set containing several postcards, ornaments or monthly paintings may require more total time than one larger item.

Functional products may also involve a final step, such as assembling a clock, attaching hanging cord or preparing a finished card for display.

If you want a traditional first canvas, visit our paint by numbers for beginners. For more low-detail designs in different formats, explore Easy & Fast paint by numbers.

Different Formats Include Different Supplies

Crafted Essentials is a mixed-format collection, so there is no single specification that applies to every product.

Before ordering, check:

  • The size and material of the paintable surface
  • The number of pieces or artworks included
  • The calendar year, where applicable
  • The included paints and number of brushes
  • Envelopes, hanging cords, clock parts or stands
  • Assembly, battery and display requirements
  • Care instructions for the finished item

Product photographs may show completed examples or styling accessories that are not included. Use the written product contents as the final reference.

Make a Creative Gift More Personal

A Crafted Essentials kit can be given as an activity, or you can complete the painting before presenting the finished object.

Calendars and notebooks work well as practical desk gifts, while painted cards and postcards add a handmade element to personal messages. Tote bags, clocks and seasonal ornaments can become functional gifts shaped by the painter’s own time and brushwork.

When purchasing for someone else, choose according to the recipient’s interests and available painting time. A small set is not automatically a short project when it contains many individual pieces.

Before You Begin

Review the numbered surface, paint colors and included components before painting. Keep clock parts, hanging hardware, envelopes and other non-painting pieces separate until the artwork is dry.

Protect the table and avoid using more liquid than the surface requires, particularly when painting paper goods. Close acrylic paint pots firmly between uses and clean the brush before changing colors.

If regular acrylic paint becomes too thick, follow the individual product instructions and use a compatible acrylic thinner when required. Do not automatically add water unless the selected product states that its paint is water-dilutable.

Choose a Crafted Essential by How You Want to Use It

Separate display pieces from objects handled every day

Crafted Essentials includes projects that can live on a wall, desk, table, bag or seasonal display. Begin with the object's future role. A clock or door decoration is usually seen from a distance, so the overall composition and contrast matter first. A notebook, postcard or charm is handled more closely, making small motifs and edge placement more noticeable. A tote bag moves and folds during use, so consider how the central image reads when the fabric is not perfectly flat. Thinking about use before subject prevents a beautiful design from ending up in the wrong format. It also helps you compare products by purpose instead of assuming that every item follows the same painting process.

Check the exact format on the product page

The collection brings together several product types, and their contents, surfaces, quantities and available options can differ. Open the selected listing and confirm what is included rather than carrying details from one item to another. Look for the number of pieces, orientation, dimensions, painting surface and any product-specific assembly or display information. If a photograph shows accessories, do not assume they are included unless the listing says so. This check is particularly important for multi-piece paper goods, functional objects and seasonal projects. A clear understanding of the format makes it easier to prepare an appropriate workspace and avoids choosing only from a collection thumbnail.

Match the project scale to the amount of detail

A small object can still contain many narrow numbered areas, while a larger item may use broad graphic shapes. Compare the actual design rather than treating physical size as a difficulty label. Look at how tightly details gather around faces, lettering-like forms, flowers, borders or decorative corners. Broad central motifs can provide visible progress, while repeated edge patterns create a more methodical rhythm. If the project will be shared with a younger painter or completed in short sessions, choose a design with clear local zones. If you enjoy concentrated detail, a smaller surface with an intricate motif may be more satisfying.

Prepare the Workspace for Different Project Formats

Keep the surface stable without changing its structure

Place the item on a clean, well-lit work surface and follow any preparation guidance provided with the selected product. Paper goods need support so corners do not curl while you paint. A bag or flexible surface should lie as evenly as its construction allows without forcing folds or seams into an unnatural position. A clock face, ornament or coaster may need room around its edges so your hand does not brush wet paint. Use only supports and temporary protection that do not damage the surface. Because the collection contains different materials and formats, avoid applying one preparation method to every product unless the listing or instructions confirm it.

Organize paints and pieces before beginning

Compare the numbered paint containers with the design and reference image before opening several colors. If the product includes multiple items, keep them in a consistent order so a repeated motif or color plan is easier to follow. Complete one piece or one local zone at a time rather than spreading wet work across the table. Close paint containers between uses and keep a clean area for finished pieces. For paper projects, separate completed and unpainted items so moisture or accidental contact does not transfer. A simple setup reduces searching and makes short creative sessions easier to stop and resume.

Test your painting sequence on the least complex area

Begin with a broad, clearly numbered region that shows how the paint behaves on the selected surface. Use the brush tip near edges and a flatter angle in larger sections. Let the first area dry before deciding whether coverage needs another pass. Pale colors may require patience, but adding too much paint at once can soften boundaries. Once you understand the surface, continue through neighboring shapes in an organized direction. This small trial is more useful than assuming that a method learned on traditional canvas will feel identical on paper, fabric or a functional object.

Painting Paper Goods and Portable Projects

Work across notebooks, cards and postcards in small zones

Paper goods reward a lighter, orderly approach. Support the item from beneath, keep excess water away from the surface and allow painted areas to dry before stacking or closing anything. When several pieces belong to one set, complete a repeated color across one local group or finish one design at a time. Preserve borders and fold areas exactly as shown. If you want to compare the available paper-based formats, browse paintable notebooks and paintable postcards as distinct destinations rather than assuming they are interchangeable. A notebook is kept and handled over time, while a postcard can become a small finished image or message-based keepsake.

Plan a set so individual pieces still feel connected

A multi-item project can use repeated palette, border treatment or subject matter to create unity. Lay the unpainted pieces side by side and notice which colors appear across the set. You can finish one item fully, or alternate between pieces while the same color is open, provided the workspace stays organized. Do not force exact repetition when the printed designs vary. The connection should come from the supplied artwork rather than additional decoration that covers numbers or functional areas. When finished, consistent spacing or packaging can help several small pieces read as one thoughtful collection.

Painting Objects Designed to Be Used or Displayed

Keep the main motif readable on a canvas tote

A tote bag design should remain recognizable when the bag hangs naturally. Identify the central motif, its orientation and the large surrounding shapes before filling small accents. Paint away from seams and edges in a controlled order so your hand has a dry place to rest. Do not assume that care, washing or finishing instructions are identical to those for ordinary canvas; follow the selected product's guidance. To compare available bag designs directly, visit the canvas tote bag collection. Choose according to the image and practical format shown on the listing, not an imagined capacity or material specification.

Use radial structure when painting a clock face

A creative clock often organizes the eye around a center point. Locate that center, the main circular boundary and any repeated positions before painting decorative details. Work in opposing or neighboring zones so the overall balance remains visible. Keep functional openings and marked components clear, and rely on the product instructions for assembly rather than inventing a sequence from the photograph. Broad color bands can establish the design first; smaller motifs and accents can follow after surrounding areas dry. Explore paintable clocks when timepiece format is the priority rather than a general wall canvas.

Treat coasters, charms and hanging pieces as close-view artwork

Small functional or decorative pieces are usually viewed at arm's length. Clean boundaries and a clear central subject therefore matter more than adding extra detail. If a set contains several coasters, compare their palettes and decide whether to complete them as a sequence. Charms and hanging pieces may include narrow outlines or edge details; rotate the item so the brush stroke moves in a comfortable direction. Browse paintable coasters or charms and keychains when one of those formats matches the intended use. Always confirm current product details on the individual listing.

Build a Calm, Repeatable Painting Process

Alternate broad areas with focused details

Long stretches of background coverage can be balanced with one small motif, border or focal feature. This rhythm keeps progress visible without scattering attention across the entire object. Work by color within a local zone instead of searching every piece for the same number. Similar colors can serve different roles depending on their neighbors, so context matters. When an edge must remain crisp, finish one side and let it dry before painting the adjacent section. If paint crosses a line, wait until the area is dry before correcting it. A patient sequence preserves both the printed structure and the function of the item.

Use stopping points that protect unfinished work

Choose a natural boundary before each session: one postcard, one side of a tote motif, one ring of a clock design or one coaster. Close paints, clean the brush and place the project where wet areas will not touch another surface. Flexible and multi-piece formats benefit from especially clear stopping points because they can be moved accidentally. Keep the reference image with the project so you do not need to rebuild your place later. The aim is steady continuity, not a promised completion time. Different products and designs will require different pacing.

Review the object from its normal viewing position

A project can look fragmented at brush distance but read clearly when held, hung or placed as intended. Step back before adding any detail not shown in the numbered design. Check whether the main motif remains visible, whether dark accents are balanced and whether any small numbered areas were missed. For a clock or door piece, view it from across the room. For a notebook, charm or coaster, inspect it at normal handling distance. This final perspective helps prioritize meaningful corrections and prevents overworking tiny sections that already combine visually.

Choose Crafted Essentials as a Personal Gift

Match the format to the recipient's everyday life

A useful creative gift begins with the person rather than the occasion. Someone who writes or plans may appreciate a notebook or calendar format. A person who carries art into daily routines may prefer a tote or charm. A host or home-decor enthusiast may respond to coasters, a clock or a seasonal hanging piece. Choose the object they are likely to use or display, then narrow by color and subject. Avoid assuming that a functional project is automatically easier than wall art. Check the numbered design, scale and listing details so the experience matches the recipient as well as the finished object.

Decide whether to give the project or the finished object

You can give an unpainted project to someone who enjoys making things, or complete it yourself and give the finished piece. Those are different gifts. When giving the project, include enough time for the recipient to explore the instructions and work at their own pace. When giving the finished object, plan around drying, any product-specific assembly and careful presentation. Do not promise a deadline without checking the selected product and your own painting pace. If the recipient is new to guided painting, beginner paint by numbers can help compare more traditional canvas options before you decide on a functional format.

Final Checklist for a Crafted Essentials Project

Confirm purpose, design and product details

Before ordering, identify where the finished item will live and how it will be handled. Check the exact product format, number of pieces, dimensions, artwork orientation, available options and included contents on the listing. Inspect where the smallest sections appear and whether the palette suits the intended use. Make sure the central motif remains clear at the distance from which the object will normally be seen. These checks are more useful than choosing only by a collection image or assuming every item follows the same specifications.

Choose the object you will enjoy both painting and keeping

The strongest Crafted Essentials project has value during and after the painting process. Imagine setting it up, working through its large and small areas, allowing it to dry and placing it into real use. If the surface, subject and final role all appeal, the project has a clear reason to be completed. Follow the numbered map first, respect the functional parts of the object and make refinements only after the main design reads clearly. The result does not need extra decoration or exaggerated claims. A carefully chosen format and a coherent painted image are enough to make an everyday object feel personal.

Crafted Essentials FAQs

Are Crafted Essentials suitable for beginners?

Many current products use clear outlines and broader color areas intended for beginners. Difficulty can still increase when a set contains several pieces or a design includes small decorative details.

Does every product include paints and brushes?

Paints and brushes are included with many products, but quantities and other components vary. Check the individual listing for the exact kit contents.

Can children use these products?

Selected designs may be suitable for younger painters, but not every product has the same audience or difficulty. Parents should check the product information and supervise children when paints, small components or assembly are involved.

Do the clocks include the clock mechanism?

Current clock listings describe a mechanism and hands, but components and battery requirements should always be confirmed on the selected product page before ordering.

Can painted tote bags be washed?

Care instructions may differ according to the bag, paint and finishing method. Do not machine-wash a completed bag unless the selected product specifically confirms that it is suitable.

Are the calendar products reusable every year?

Year-dated calendars are designed for the year shown in the product title. Check the year carefully before ordering; the painted artwork may still be displayed after the calendar year ends.

What should I do if the paint becomes thick?

Close the paint pots whenever they are not in use. Follow the selected product’s paint-care instructions and use a compatible acrylic thinner for regular acrylic paint when required. Only add water when the product specifically identifies the paint as water-dilutable.
