Later, a game.

A rocket, stars and an Explorer badge give children a flying disc they can make their own. Paint the numbered areas, let everything dry, then take the finished frisbee outside. This is a project that has a life beyond the painting table.

Choose the disc color

The soft PE frisbee measures 9 in across and is available in Blue, Green, Orange, Red, Yellow or White. Numbered acrylic paints and three brushes come with it. Large color areas and clear borders make it an approachable craft; a grown-up can help younger children keep the disc steady.

Before the first throw

Allow the painted surface to dry fully before play. This is one of our Paint by Numbers Frisbee projects, alongside other usable crafts in Crafted Essentials. Young rocket fans can continue exploring Outer Space for Kids.

Let them choose more than the paint color

Choosing the disc itself gives children an early decision in the project. They can pick a favorite shade, then discover how the rocket badge takes shape inside it. That combination of a usable object and a space-themed picture can be especially appealing to a child who likes making things they can carry away.

A different surface to get used to

The frisbee has a rim and a curved form, so turning it can be easier than reaching across it. Give wet sections room to dry before handling that part of the disc. A steady place on the table and a little help from an adult make the painting stage easier to manage.

Build the afternoon around both activities

You might paint indoors first and leave outdoor play for later, once the surface is fully dry. The waiting becomes a clear break between making and using. This is also a useful gift choice when you want the finished craft to be held, shown and played with, rather than only displayed.

Need more paint? You can request one extra set of paints for free from PaintEasy.
